Truth Over Tyranny.2: Biblical wisdom for defeating the Technocrats.
These are my insights for defeating the Transhumanist Technocracy movement, based on the teachings of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik (the Rav,) of blessed memory, on the weekly Bible portion.
In Parashat Lech Lecha, the Torah tells the story of the war of four armies against five. The people of five cities (including Sodom and Gomorrah) had been been living in servitude under four kings, among them Amraphel (aka Nimrod) and Chedorloemer. They finally had enough, and rebelled. But the four ruling kings forcefully confronted the rebellion.
This is how the Torah describes the eruption of the war:
“Now it came to pass in the days of Amraphel the king of Shinar, Arioch the king of Ellasar, Chedorloemer the king of Elam, and Tidal the king of Goyim. That they waged war with Bera the king of Sodom and with Birsha the king Gomorrah, Shineab the king of Admah, and Shemeber the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar… For twelve years they served Chedorloemer, and for thirteen years they rebelled.” Bereshit 14.1,2,4
The Rav saw this war as more than just a fight between oppressed and oppressor. It was actually a clash of ideologies: one based on the acquisition of power, and the other on the pursuit of pleasure:
“The Torah speaks here of two military blocs, two alliances. One bloc consisted of Amraphel king of Shinar, who according to Chazal (Jewish sages,) was Nimrod. Nimrod led the entire world against God’s kingship… This bloc is represented by a group of people who were intoxicated by their own material success and technology… They held that man reigns supreme, and that by applying his mind he can conquer the universe and dethrone the Creator. They were power-crazed, and power-intoxicated. Opposing this bloc, there was another, represented by Sodom… This bloc represented the human quest for unlimited pleasure. Thus this was a clash not only of two armies. but of two world outlooks.” Chumash HaRav, Vol Bereshit, p. 85.
The armies trained to assert power had a clear military advantage. Even though they were fewer in number, they prevailed. Not only did they put down the rebellion — they conquered additional lands:
“… and they smote the Rephaim… and the Zuzim… and the Emim… And the Horites…” Bereshit 14.5,6
The Rav emphasizes that weak character is no match for physical prowess:
“The fewer defeated the stronger (more numerous,) because they were better warriors (Rashi.) They were disciplined, representing an ideology of power and dominion, a life dedicated to an ideal. The five were softened by voluptuousness, and the quest for lust. They were not trained nor disciplined, and they lost the battle.” Chumash HaRav, Vol Bereshit, p. 87.
But then the story takes a turn. Lot, nephew of Abram (later renamed Abraham), is taken captive by the victors. Abram is informed that his kin is now a prisoner of war:
“And they took Lot and his possessions, the son of Abram’s brother, and they departed, and he was living in Sodom. And the fugitive came and he told Abram the Hebrew…” Bereshit 14.12,13
The Rav tells us that this “fugitive” (from the war, presumably) was Og, King of Bashan, and that he had a special motive in giving this news to Abram:
“Chazal (sages) say that this was Og, King of Bashan… (With Chedorloemer) being physically very powerful, (Og) understood that power alone could not subdue Chedorloemer. He recognized that whatever physical power could not accomplish, Abraham — with his determination, spiritual leadership, devotion and dedication — could accomplish.” Chumash HaRav, Vol Bereshit, pp. 87,88.
And indeed Abram, the man of stellar character, led his small band of warriors to total victory over the conquering armies:
“And Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, and he armed his trained men, those born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and he pursued (them) until Dan. And he divided himself against them at night, he and his servants, and smote them, and pursued them until Hobah, which is to the left of Damascus. And he restored all the possessions, and also Lot his brother and his possessions he restored, and also the women and the people.” Bereshit 14.14 – 16.
When the victors arrive at Sodom with all they had retrieved from captivity, King Malchizedek there greeted them with bread and wine. The Rav explains that this was a gesture to recognize the restraint and honor they had displayed in their triumph:
“In antiquity, a famished victorious army on a march back from the battlefront, intoxicated with victory, saw nothing as sacred. Robbery, rape, murder, licentiousness, gluttony — all these acts were permissible. But Abraham’s army was different. Coming back after weeks of fighting, the soldiers were famished and starved. On the way, there were many settlements, cities, and villages, from which they could have gotten food if they wanted, but no one touched anything. Malchizedek came out with bread and wine to feed the warriors. He understood what Abraham had accomplished and came out to greet him…” Chumash HaRav, Vol Bereshit, p. 90.
The stellar character of Abram and his soldiers was further revealed when they were given the chance to keep some of the spoils of war by the King of Sodom, but declined:
“And the King of Sodom said to Abram, ‘Give me the souls, and the possession take for yourself.’ And Abram said to the King of Sodom, ‘I raise my hand to the Lord, the Most High God, Who possess heaven and earth. Neither from a thread to a shoe strap, nor will I take from whatever is yours, that you should not say, ‘I have made Abram wealthy.’ Exclusive of what the lads ate, and the share of the men who went with me; Aner, Eshkol, and Mamre they shall take their share.'” Bereshit 14.21 – 24.
So, while the war of the armies was a clash of the ideologies of power vs pleasure, the ultimate winner was the ideology of moral conduct — a lesson that right makes might.
I would add this:
This lesson is crucial in today’s war of self-defense against the invasion of the communist technocracy. Look at all the power they are trying to amass:
… global economic control by a small cabal of elite families, groups, and corporations.
… one world government through color revolutions.
… direction of human evolution through biotechnology.
At the same time, they are trying to make the masses weaker, to inhibit our resistance to their power plays, by pushing the following:
... transhumanism, to invalidate traditional and scientific truths about gender and biology.
… DEI, CRT, ESG and other marxist ideologies that fracture social institutions.
… policies such as open borders to replace traditional American culture with the foreign cultures of hostile invaders.
These people are evil and diabolical. They want to push us into a state of every man for himself, so they can take over — divide and conquer. But as is often the case, men of poor or low character underestimate the capability of people with strong character. As Abraham showed us, determination, spiritual leadership, devotion and dedication can lead to victory over conquering armies. This includes those who attack through technology.
