More and more, I think that Israeli and American politics are starting to mirror each other. This week, once again, Leftist Israelis have taken to the streets to violently protest things that most of us cannot fathom. For example, they are up in arms because the government voted unanimously to fire Ronen Bar, head of the Intelligence Service. That would be the same head of the Intelligence Service that was in charge on October 7 and gave Israelis absolutely no notice at all when Hamas waltzed in over the border and murdered 1200 of us. You’d think anybody in his right mind in Israel would agree that to get rid of him was a no-brainer. Not so fast. If Netanyahu wants it, it must be bad. Does that remind you of the Democrats denigrating Trump for securing the borders, deporting illegal criminals, attacking waste and fraud? Sure sounds similar to me. And then we have our courts getting involved. What does the Supreme Court have to do with the appointment of firing of a person chosen by the Prime Minister? Does that sound like an Israeli version of lawfare to you? Ditto for the outrage over the the firing of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miarawho has been politicizing her work and obstructing the government’s agenda at every turn. And what do they all say out there in the streets, waving their flags and beating their drums? It’s all in the name of democracy!
